A sideman with an impressive resume, Fontayne’s solo project impresses us in many ways, not the least of which is in the quality of his original material. Though long, “Weight of the World” is an engrossing, Lennonesque tune with Fontayne’s brooding voice a plus.

“ Little Napoleons” adds a McCartney/Radiohead sweetness to the set. “Cut From The Same Cloth” uses trippy guitar effects to augment a song whose chorus is already strong. This artist’s music is too compelling to be overlooked –– which is why KCRW has played it regularly.
